Socialites
hold New Members' Evenings throughout
the year which is the usual method of joining. However, you can also
make arrangements with either of our New Members' Secretaries, Terry or
Ann (see Contact Us),
to come along to a programme evening and meet the crowd.
New Members' Evenings take place in various pubs, mostly in the
Bexleyheath area, starting at 8.30 pm and the introduction lasts about
half an hour. During this time the New Members Secretary will explain
about the Club and answer questions. The atmosphere is very relaxed and
informal. It gives new members a chance to meet each other as well as
members of the Club. Afterwards, you can stay and 'mingle' for as long
as you like, there's no pressure.
People seeking membership will be required to take temporary membership
for up to two months at a cost of £10, to see if they really like it.
This covers the cost of two programmes and lots of other useful
information.
Once you have your programme, you can attend any of the events listed.
If you don't want to go to something on your own, we can find you a
'buddy' to go with so there's no need to feel awkward or out of place.
Everyone is really friendly and never 'pushy'.
After the two months you will be eligible to apply for full membership
at a current cost of £30 per year. Acceptance into the Club is not
automatic as we strive to keep the Club free of any undesirable
elements. On completion of an application form and payment of the fee,
the request for membership is reviewed by the Committee at the next
meeting and prospective members are granted member status thereafter.
